I wanted one of these for quite a long time, but couldn’t afford one, so I settled for a cheaper stand mixer, which simply did not have the power. Â A couple of years ago, we got an Artisan mixer, and it has been very useful. It comes with:
- a dough hook for making bread and buns
- a wire whisk for whipping cream, making meringues and angel food cakes, making marshmallows,
- a flat blade for mixing cookie dough, icing, cakes, meatloaves
- a pouring shield, so that you can easily add ingredients while it is mixing
The bowl locks into place, and the beater moves around the bowl, rather than the bowl rotating. It’s nice because you do not constantly have to turn the bowl, and the motor is quite powerful…so much easier than mixing by hand. It saves my wrists when making bread or biscotti…two things that have gotten harder to do as I got older.
