Blackberry and apple crumble (with ice cream, of course) Â seems so appropriate at this time of year. The blackberries are hanging over the fence and the apples are ripe on the tree. I went into the backyard and picked a couple cups of blackberries and 2 Bramley apples to make this dessert.
Blackberry and Apple Crumble
- 2 cups blackberries
- 2 apples, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar combined with 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup rolled oats ( I used quick oats)
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
I preheated the oven to 350F. Then put the fruit into a casserole dish, and added the sugar mixed with cornstarch and stirred it about. Then I put the butter into a bowl and cut the sugar and flour into it, then worked in the oats (you can rub it all together using your fingers). Â I covered the fruit with the oat mixture, and baked it for an hour.
This is a great dessert with ice cream or custard. I like ice cream in the summer and custard in the winter. How about you?
This is a lot easier than I ever thought …
Are you going to make one, then?
