We are having a bake sale at work next Monday, and I was trying to think of something original, fast to make and tasty. I got a bit experimental, and decided to make individual butterscotch brownies (aka blondies by some people) and insert an apple rose in the middle.
Individual Butterscotch Brownies With Apple Roses
These were very easy to make. Preheat the oven to 350F, and make the butterscotch brownie recipe found here. Grease or spray 12 muffin cups, and divide the batter equally among them (I used a tablespoon to measure them). Core an apple and slice it thinly in crescents. Put it in a pot of boiling water water, with a couple tablespoons of lemon juice and a tablespoon of sugar. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until   the apple slices are soft enough to bend.
One slice at a time, wrap them around each other to form a rose shape, then press into the batter. Bake for 15-20 minutes. I then drizzled a very tiny amount of caramel over the roses.
I took a few in to work, to test them out. Opinions are favourable, so these will officially debut at our bake sale:)
