This soft, chewy, chocolate chip cookie recipe is the second thing I learned to bake, way back when I was 10 years old. The first thing was peanut butter cookies:)
Soft, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (or 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar)
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup raisins ( or pecans, dried cranberries or more chocolate chips)
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Preheat oven to 375F. Combine the butter and sugar together and beat until creamy. Then add the egg, and beat until the mixture is fluffy. Stir in the chocolate chips and raisins, then add the flour, salt and baking soda.
Drop by the teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes. The cookies will spread. Cool on wire racks.
You can vary this recipe by adding grated orange peel.
You can also vary it by using 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup peanut butter.
Or, you can add 1/2 cup oatmeal to the mix.
I love fresh hot cookies with a glass of cold milk. Do you?
