Cherry Cheesecake Brownies

cherry cheesecake browniesI love brownies and my husband loves cheesecake. Cherry cheesecake brownies are the perfect combination, and something both of us enjoy. These are fairly quick to make and do not need icing.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained

Preheat oven to 325F. Combine the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs, water and vanilla. Stir in the flour, cocoa and salt. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy, and beat in the egg. Combine the flour and sugar and gradually blend it into the egg/cheese mixture. Stir in the cherries.  In a greased or parchment lined 8 X 8 pan, spread 2/3 of the brownie mix. Then  spread the cheese mixture on top. Glop the remaining brownie batter over top. Bake for 25-35 minutes, until the brownies pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool and cut into squares.
