Cherry Almond Loaf

I felt like making a treat for my husband the other day, and I know he’s fond of cherries and almonds, so I thought a cherry almond loaf would be perfect for dessert.

Cherry Almond Loaf

â–ª 1/2 cup butter
â–ª 1 cup sugar
â–ª 1 teaspoon vanilla
â–ª 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
â–ª 1 1/2 cups flour
â–ª 1 teaspoon baking powder
â–ª 1 teaspoon salt
â–ª 2 eggs
â–ª 1/2 cup milk
â–ª 1/2 cup chopped almonds
â–ª 3/4 cup glace cherries
Preheat oven to 350F.  Grease a 9x5x3 loaf pan.
Beat the butter until creamy, then beat in the sugar. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla and nutmeg. Next stir in the nuts and cherries, saving a few cherries to put on top. Then stir in half a cup of flour, followed by 1/4 cup milk. Continue adding the flour and milk, alternating, until complete.
Scrape into the loaf pan, and place the rest of the cherries on top.
Bake for 60-75 minutes

You can glaze it with almond icing, to make it fancy for a tea party, but it is very nice as it is.
