In the heat this weekend, Steve really fancied making some red wine sangria…as we have red wine on hand and usually have a lot of fruit hanging about. He whipped this up and left it to chill so that it was ready to have with our dinner.
- 1 litre red wine
- 4 ounces orange brandy
- 1 orange, sliced thin
- 1 lemon, sliced thin
- 1 lime, sliced thin
- two tablespoons honey
Combine in a pitcher. Allow to steep in the fridge for a few hours. Mix with soda water or ginger ale (and ice, if desired) to serve.
You can use white wine instead. You can use different fruit. It’s fun to experiment, and it also a great way to make that lousy bottle of wine that someone insisted on giving you into something more palatable:)
If you are curious about sangria, you can read more about it here.
Have you ever made sangria? What do you use?
For my sangria, I use a bottle of red wine, a can of blood orange San Pellegrino, and some grand mariner or triple sec. For the fruit, oranges and strawberries 🙂
Ooh…that sounds really good. I’ll have to try that:)
